Ms. Annie Ruth Ingram was born March 2, 1943 and departed this life on July 4, 2024. Annie was the thirteenth child born to the late Ruby Peterson Ingram. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clinton, James and Levy Ingram; and her sisters, Katie Ingram, Allean Ingram Betton, Susie Mae McDowell, Edna Crenshaw, Johncie Lee Demings, Beatrice Washington, Ruby Lee Culver and Willia Powell. Annie was an active member of Butler Chapel AME Zion Church and has served in many roles. She is most noted for her voice as soloist in the Butler Chapel Cathedral Choir and the James E. Cook Mass Choir.
Annie has always been a hard worker. She worked over ten years with Fortex Manufacturing Companyand was the first woman hired as an electrician with Rheem Manufacturing Company. She worked as an electrician for twenty-six years and retired as an Electrician A. Annie was dedicated to family, she raised two of her nieces (Lessie & Viola) upon the death of their mom; her sister Allean. She also help raise her great-nephew Christopher. In addition, when the health of her mother and brother failed, she provided care for them. She never complained, she just worked to the best of her ability; often saying “God won’t put more on you than you can bear.”
Annie, affectionately called Little Baby by all who loved and knew her, became “Nana” to her family after the birth of her beloved “Sweet Pea”. She leaves to cherish the memories of her life her beloved daughter Teica Lawana Ingram, Greenville, AL, one grandson, Zaccheus Jaymes (LaTonya Alexander) Smith, one great granddaughter, Gabriella Ann Smith, Houston, TX, one sister, Lula Ingram Briggs, Greenville, AL, a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Celebration of Life & Homegoing Service for Ms. Annie Ruth Ingram will be as follows:
Public viewing: Saturday, July 13, 2024, 10:00~10:45 a.m. at Butler Chapel AME Zion Church, 347 Oglesby Street, Greenville, AL
Funeral service will start promptly at 11:00 am following public viewing.
Final resting place: Magnolia Cemetery, Greenville, AL
