Arzell Wilkerson was a bright and beautiful soul who transitioned on December 19, 2025, with her family by her side.
Arzell was born January 5, 1944, in Greenville, Alabama to Ollie and Bettie Simmons Wilkerson. She received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church. In 1962, she graduated from Greenville Training School, then moved to Brooklyn, NY. She had a successful career with the US Postal Service where she retired after 30 years of service. She then moved to Montgomery, AL and renewed her membership with Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Her life was marked by love, joy, and service. She was an active and caring woman who devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members and loving on her great-grandchildren. She always surrounded herself with family and friends where she felt most comfortable. She had a great love for cruising and was an international traveler and when she was home you could find her digging and planting in her flower garden.
Arzell was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Wilkerson; parents, Ollie and Bettie Wilkerson; Brothers, Eddie Lee, Eugene, Clarence, Theodies, and R.J. Wilkerson; Sisters, Plummie Wilkerson, Ginnie V. McDaniels, Mildred Knight and Zettie Crenshaw.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a "devoted grandson", Eric (Mary) McMeans of Montgomery, AL; Sisters Jeanette McMillian of Mobile, AL; Betty "Annie" Clarke of Charlotte, NC and Hattie (Randy) Lawson of Greenville, AL. Brother Willie Wilkerson of Greenville, AL. Grandson, Derrick McMeans, 4 great-grandchildren all of Montgomery AL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
