Mr. Eddie Earl Smith was born January 26, 1959, in Forest Home, AL to Minnie Mae Smith and Young Columbus Smith. He departed this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Alabama.
Eddie was educated in the public school of Butler County. He united in holy matrimony to Lillie Smith and from their union 3 children was born.
Eddie dedicated over 20 years of his career to Butler County Road Department on the Butler County Road Division. After a fulfilling career, he retired from Lowndes County Road Division. He was baptized in 1993 at College Street Church of Christ in Greenville, AL. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching football, western television shows and he had a great love for animals.
Eddie's legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered. He had an infectious smile, along with a compassionate spirit. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and were fortunate to have their lives touched by him.
He was preceded in death by his father Young Columbus Smith; his siblings: Oldest Columbus Smith, Curtis Lee Smith, Rick Smith, Young Columbus Smith, Jr. and Linda Smith; nephews: Russelle Gregory and Marcale Gregory.
Mr. Eddie Earl Smith leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife of 43 years, Lillie Smith; his children: Marcus E. Smith of Greenville, AL; Marcellus (Shanna) Smith of Dothan, AL, Emmanuel L. Smith of Greenville, AL; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; devoted best friends: Joe Smoke Cook, Gerald Scott and Robert Scarver; and a host of nieces, nephews, great- nieces; great-nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.
