Ollie Lee McClain was born on January 2, 1935, to the late Jess and Penola Bone in Pigeon Creek, Butler County, Alabama.
Throughout her life, she was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 1610 Oakey Streak Road, Greenville, AL. Though Mt Moriah was her home church, she also loved attending services and fellowshipping at Saint Luke. She especially enjoyed the fashion shows – always eager to participate and strut her stuff with pride and joy.
One of her greatest passions was gardening. She loved flowers, being outdoors, and sharing that joy with others. A true giver, if someone admired her flowers, she’d strike up a conversation – and before long, she’d be digging up a piece or braking off a cutting to give them. She was known for helping others create and maintain their flowerbeds with care and generosity.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory seven devoted children. Four daughters: Thelma (Mickey) of Enterprise, AL; Janice (Eddie) of Montgomery, AL; Cecelia (Jerry) of Luverne, AL; and Angela (Ray (deceased)) of Luverne, AL. Three sons: Clemon E. (Tracy) of Spring Lake, NC; John Sr. (Katie) of Montgomery, AL; and Reginald of Benton Harbor, MI.
She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Eric, Talisha, Michelle, Erica, Tronetha, Rodrick, Eboni, Lakesha, De’Arion, John Jr., and Antonio; twenty-two great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Alice Lee of Opp, AL and Edna Miller of Niagara Fall, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
