Saniah Ty'Anne Simmons was born on November 25, 2006, to her loving parents, Quintetta McPherson and Calvin Simmons. From the very moment she entered this world, Saniah’s radiant smile and warm demeanor had the power to brighten anyone’s day. A joyful spirit, Saniah’s presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her kindness and infectious energy left a lasting impact on her family, friends, and community.
Saniah accepted Christ into her heart at an early age, and her faith became the foundation of her life. She was baptized and became a devoted member of the House of Prayer Holiness Church, where she was an active and faithful participant in the church’s activities. Saniah's deep belief in God and her commitment to serving others were evident in all aspects of her life, and she was admired for her genuine love and care for those around her.
A young woman full of ambition and hope, Saniah was a senior at Greenville High School, where she was set to graduate as part of the Class of 2025. She approached every day with determination and a strong sense of purpose. Saniah was known for her vibrant personality, and her love for life was reflected in everything she did. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, babysitting, and traveling, creating cherished memories with her loved ones. Saniah's zest for life and adventure made her an inspiration to those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Though her time with us was far too short, Saniah’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Chester L. Adams, as well as her great-grandparents: Catherine Powell, Willie Powell, Katie Morris-Simmons, Larry Charles Crenshaw, and Inell Savage. Their love and wisdom shaped Saniah’s life, and she will always be remembered as part of their lineage.
Saniah leaves behind a deeply loving family who will forever hold her memory close. She is survived by her devoted mother, Quintetta McPherson (Richard), and her loving father, Calvin Simmons (Cassandra), both of Greenville, AL. She was the proud sister to Mary Simmons and Camyiah Simmons, both of Greenville, AL. Saniah also leaves behind a large, extended family of step-siblings, including Artreanna Searight (Georgiana, AL), Ceasia Gipson, Angel McPherson, Chankiera McPherson, Zakiyah McPherson, and Arriana McPherson, all of Greenville, AL, as well as step-brothers Damien Albritton (Georgiana, AL) and Cayden Boone (Greenville, AL). Her grandmothers, Patricia Rudolph (Alvin) and Mary Simmons, both of Greenville, AL, and her grandfather, Jerome Savage (Greenville, AL), will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She was loved and treasured by her step grandmother Pastor Cecilia Adams of Greenville, AL.
Saniah’s aunts and uncles, who were always there to offer love and support, include Lashonda Fields (Malcolm) of Beavercreek, OH, Lashay Powell of Greenville, AL, Yurocka Williams (Robert) of Montgomery, AL, Vernessa Wagner of Opelika, AL, Sharla Wilson of Birmingham, AL, Bunny McHenry of Greenville, AL, Angela Johnson of Hartford, CT, and the late Frieda Carter of Greenville, AL. Her uncles who will hold her memory dear include Demond Powell (Kamika) of Greenville, AL, Barry Powell (Jamekia) of Prattville, AL, Brian Powell of Greenville, AL, Destrict Lee (Valerie) of Greenville, AL, Aaron Savage (Michelle) of Greenville, AL, Elisha Adams (Taz) of Pensacola, FL, Chester Adams (Ashlee) of Lawrenceville, GA, Lorenzo Adams of Athens, GA, and Daryl Lee of Pensacola, FL.
In addition, Saniah was blessed with one favorite cousin, Thamarcus Powell, who shared a special bond with her. She was also loved and cherished by her Godmothers, Latrina McCreary and Minnie Petterson, as well as her Godbrother, Quinderious Bradley. Saniah’s circle of friends was wide, and she held dear her special friends Cornelia Patton and Tamia Knight, who brought joy to her life.
Saniah’s memory will also be lovingly kept by a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins, family members, friends, and classmates. She touched the lives of so many with her radiant personality and boundless love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing that Saniah’s legacy will live on in the love and memories she shared with us. We will remember her for her kindness, her strength, and her beautiful spirit that will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
