Mrs. Sarah A. Murphy was born January 6, 1940, in Louisville, Mississippi to Woodrow and Willie B. (Miller) Hickman. She departed this life on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Valley Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.
Sarah was educated in the public schools of Butler County. She united in holy matrimony to the former J.C. Murphy and from their union one child was born. Sarah worked as a machine operator with Rheem Manufacturing Company for several years. After retirement she dedicated years caring for her mother and eldest brother. She was baptized in 1982 at Holgate Church of Christ in Seattle, WA. She was a member of College Street Church of Christ and enjoyed teaching children at Sunday school. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching western movies and reading her Bible. She had a great love for animals, especially dogs.
Sarah’s legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered. She had an infectious smile. The world grew dimmer with her passing. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her and were fortunate to have their lives touched by her.
She was preceded in death by her father Woodrow Hickman and her mother Willie B. Miller; daughter, Loretta Moorer; grandsons, Russell Gregory and Marcale Gregory; sister, Betty Jean Lawrence; brothers, W.L. Hickman, and Donnell Hickman.
