Shalleice Hudson Obituary

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Shalleice was called to her heavenly home. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and beloved friend. Shalleice completed her earthly journey at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. She was a native of Greenville, Alabama, born on June 13, 1977, in Montgomery, Alabama, into the union of the late Mr. Samuel L. Hudson, Sr. and Mrs. Linda Womack Hudson Rodgers.

Shalleice embraced her faith early in life. She joined the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of The Church of Greenville, where she served until her death. Shalleice was educated in the public schools of Greenville, Alabama, and graduated from Greenville High School in 1995. She earned an Associate Degree in Science from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Alabama, and a Master's Degree from The University of West Alabama.

Shalleice loved writing poems and books, reading, working with children, and traveling. She taught Pre-K and First Grade and was currently working at Childcare Resources in Birmingham as an Educational Leader and Center Director. She helped teachers develop strategies to support children's growth.

Shalleice was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Samuel L. Hudson, Sr.

Shalleice’s cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of her two devoted sons, Jacolby T. Young of Birmingham, AL, and Taylor J. Young at Shaw AFB in South Carolina. Her caring and nurturing mom: Mrs. Linda W. Rodgers, and a loving and supportive stepdad (“Pops”), Mr. Wilbert C. Rodgers, Sr., of Greenville, AL. She had a loving, caring, and protective brother: Samuel L. (Domonique) Hudson (JR) from Prattville, AL. Her two stepsisters are Rachel R. Streeter and Paula R. Mayes, both of Montgomery, AL. Her stepbrother: Wilbert C. Rodgers, Jr., from Manor, TX. Her loving aunts and uncles include: Alice Adams of Greenville, AL; Demeris (Terry) Owens of Oxon Hill, Maryland; Johnny G. (Sharon) Womack of Cataula, GA; Victor T. Womack of Phenix City, AL; Christopher O. Womack of Greenville, AL; Bruce (Lisa) Boggan of Montgomery, AL; and Kenneth (Elaine) Womack of Greenville, AL. Sweet memories of her live on with her nieces: Samya L. Hudson, Kayla Rodgers, Shayla Rodgers, and Raivin Beavers; and nephews: Jailin Hudson, Jacob Hudson, Montel Jones, David Ewing III, Anthony Rodgers, Kyri Rodgers, and Richard Beavers. She leaves behind a host of cousins, friends, classmates, and a dear college friend, Nekeya Grayson. Her godparents are Eddie and Jean Crittenden of Hephzibah, GA. She was also part of the village that helped raise and nurture her (just as they did their own children: Greg, Lesa, Johnny, and the late Deirdre Nix), the late Walter R. Nix, and Carrie J. Nix. She cherished her nurturing friend, mentor, and immediate supervisor, April Allen, at Childcare Resources, as well as her colleague and friend, Barbara Hunt, Family Advocate.
