Virginia Hare Owens, known by family and friends as “Gin”, was born on October 20, 1940 to the late union of the late, Jake Hare Jr. and late Mary L. Bruce Hare in
Calhoun, Alabama. She attended the Calhoun Laboratory High School in Calhoun, Alabama.
She joined the Ramah Baptist Church at an early age. After graduating from high school, Virginia relocated to New York. There, she worked many years as a Nursemaid. Later on, she returned to Alabama, where she worked as a caretaker in Andalusia and Montgomery.
Under the leadership of Rev. Leo F. King, she became an usher. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Virginia was preceded in death by one sister, Celementine Hare Moland; two brothers: Willie F. Hare and Floyd L. Hare.
She is survived by two sisters: Cherrite L. Hare Parker of Crestview, FL and Pearline Hare (Jimmy) Oliver, Rutledge, AL. She also leaves to cherish her memories and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and dear friend, Ruth McCray.
